Depression and anxiety affects millions of people, but each story is different. Do any of these personal stories sound familiar to you?

      Panic and anxiety attacks
Let me say I look like I have it all together, but what was going on inside is really awful. My heart pounds and I have trouble breathing more often that I want to admit. Sometimes, I am convinced I am having a heart attack and going to die. Talk about fear! I am so embarrassed and talk to no one but my girlfriend about it. She complains about my “strange” behaviors. I will not go certain places or do certain things because I am so afraid of what will happen. Needless to say she is really tired of it and it causes a huge strain on our relationship.

Severe depression and a bad marriage
I developed severe depression after a my long marriage to an angry, abusive husband. I hit such a low point recently. I am not suicidal, but feeling completely hopeless and want to just disappear sometimes. My husband takes so many things out on me and I hate it. It feel this kind of depression helplessness. I am too ashamed to talk to anyone about it, but I am so tired of feeling this way.

My kids suffer because of us
The anger and arguing all the time. Our relationship has been bad for years and I am not even sure how we ended up here. Things are just so awful and I am so unhappy. My wife is miserable too and it just seems like nothing I do is good enough. I feel trapped. Our marital problems obviously hurt our kids and I feel terrible about that.

I have been feeling so unhappy with everything lately.
I have put on so much weight and can’t stop overeating. Sometimes I even drink more than I should. I look and feel terrible. I am irritable and unpleasant to be around and I don’t need other people to tell me that. I know it. My family tries to help, but they don’t know what to do.

When I was younger I started to drink and used all sorts of drugs to help me “deal”.
My parents had no idea all the things that happened to me, but let‘s just say I was pretty lost during those years. Today I am trying to cope with depression as things from my past seem to be catching up with me. I cannot seem to keep a relationship going and am afraid to even date anyone at this point. Talk about lonely.
